AlZn3Mg3Cr

Self-agingaluminum alloy (not standardized) with the chemical denomination AlZn3Mg3Cr for use in sand casting and gravity die casting. The chemical composition of an alloy of this type with the brand name Castadur®-30 from the manufacturer Rheinfelden Alloys GmbH & Co. KG can be found in Table 1.

Characteristic properties

Self-aging alloy for sand and gravity die casting. High strength and elongation (Table 1), good castability. Perfectly suited for decorative and technical anodizing (Table 2).

Areas of application

Architecture, cars, lighting, household appliances, automotive engineering, art casting, pattern/mold making, optics/furniture (Table 3). A casting made of this alloy is exemplified in Fig. 1.
