CAM

Computer Aided Manufacturing refers to utilization of a software, which is independent of the CNC lathe, for generation of the NC code. CAM is an integral part of computer-integrated manufacturing CIM. In a rather generic sense, it refers to computer control of manufacturing plants, as well as their transport and storage systems.

In CAM raw data are acquired for production of individual parts and for assembly of components, they are sorted by operational steps, and managed taking into account interdependencies. In contrast to generation of the NC code in the workshop (shop floor programming - SFP), CAM systems already implement the preparating work. In addition to the respective, order-related operation of data, archiving and standardization is one of the functions of CAM.
