Casting defect

Defect in the casting which may result in rejection and may have material-, production- or processing-related causes.

The properties of the castings are not in line with the standards or delivery conditions agreed with the customer. The fact that casting defects are always characterized by multiple influence factors with respect to their root causes renders the safe detection and prevention of rejection causes difficult. Therefore, a clear record of all relevant production processes is important in order to prevent rejects. Detailed and reliable information helps improve the detection and analysis of defects and avoid further defect assessments.

Due to their diversity, casting defects are combined in individual groups such as cavities, faulty casting surface, incomplete casting, inclusions, inaccurate dimensions, etc.
