Degree of dedusting

The separated dust collected in a dedusting system (s. Dedusting), based on the dust quantity present in the uncleaned gas prior to flowing through the filter is referred to as degree of dedusting (Eq. 1) .

Eq. 1

E = degree of dedusting; S = dust content in uncleaned gas prior to filtering; s = dust content in cleaned gas after filtering

The degrees of dedusting achieved by filter systems vary according to design. Wet and filtering dedusters (e.g. heavy-duty venturi and vortex washers) provide the highest degrees of separation. Multiple cyclones and centrifugal force separators provide a low degree of separation for fine dust (particle size < 5 µm).
