Dry sand casting

Sand casting using molds dried by dehydration processes which increases compressive strength (green compression strength).

Since no moisture condensation zone is formed during casting, the risk of scab formation is reduced as well as reactions between the metal and the mold material.

Compared to green sand molding, dry sand casting is used particularly for larger castings. Nowadays, however, it has become less important.
