Fault rate

The fault rate is a quality criterion and/or a characteristic value of technical systems. It can be determined on the basis of organizational, technical, maintenance of test-related downtime reasons.

The organizational fault rate (eq. 1) illustrates the fault rate percentage due to organizational lacks and refers to the holding time:

eq. 1:

The technical fault rate (eq. 2) illustrates the fault rate percentage due to technical lacks and refers to the holding time:

eq.

The maintenance fault rate (eq. 3) illustrates the fault rate percentage due to planned maintenance activities which reduce the holding time:

eq. 3:

The rest-related fault rate (eq. 4) illustrates the fault rate percentage due to tests and refers to the holding time:

eq. 4:

Modern process data collection software makes it possible to capture and visualize different fault rates (see Efficiency Control Cockpit, software module of Fill GmbH).
