Modulus

1. In the field of foundry technology, modulus is defined as the ratio between volume and heat-emitting surface. Calculation of the modulus is used to determine and approximately calculate the solidification of a casting or casting section (see also Chvorinov’s rule). In order to correctly calculate post-feeding and solidification, the casting modulus, riser neck modulus and risermodulus need to be established.

2. Designation for a ratio of technical parameters, e.g. for the elastic modulus, water glassmodulus, solidificationmodulus.

3. Module: unit or assembly in electrical or electronic engineering
