Organic binder systems

Binding materials for casting mold materials which are made of carbon compounds, such as all types of synthetic resin binders.

The most well known and most widely used core production process in which organic binder systems are used is the cold box process. Here, it consists of an organic two-component system, specifically a phenol resin (component I) and a polyisocyanate (component II). This system hardens (s. Hardening) rapidly at room temperature in the presence of a catalyst so that the core possesses enough strength for the handling which follows.
