Permanent core

A core mace of gray cast iron or steel, covered with a facing coat.

When used with distinctly conical rather simple cavities, as illustrated in Figure 1 , a permanent core can be removed and reused for other castings. Due to their quenching effect, they are perfectly suited for use in areas with large cros sections. However, in sand casting lost cores are commonly used.
