Pig casting conveyor

Conveyor belt with pig molds u8sed for automated production of pig blocks from aluminum and magnesium alloys with pig weights of 4 to 20 kg.

Fig. 1 (Ing. Rauch Fertigungstechnik GmbH) illustrates a magnesiumpig casting conveyor for casting of magnesium pigs (pig weight approx. 8 - 12 kg), with electrical pre-heating and cooling equipment for the pig molds, the castingoutput is 60 to 120 pigs per hour.

Fig. 2 (Ing. Rauch Fertigungstechnik GmbH) depicts a pig casting conveyor connected to a magnesium alloying plant.

To prevent oxidization of the magnesium melt, the pig molds are covered with shielding gas during filling and during cooling the molds run through a shielding gas-filled tunnel until the pigs are automatically demolded at the end of the conveyor. The consumption of shielding gas ranges approx. at 5.000 - 6.000 Nl/h.

Sensing of the fill level during filling of the pig molds is performed by means of a conductive probe.
