Pitch coke

Due to the calcination at temperature > 1100°C, this product is dry (Figure 1)

and displays a considerably lower content of volatile components than

green petroleum coke. Furthermore, its is produced by coking coal tar

pitch. It is mainly characterized by its high carbon content (approx.

98% C), contains around 0.6 to 0.8% sulfur and max. 0.6% volatile

components, whereby the ash residue is a maximum of 0.6%. Pitch coke can

be used as a carburization agent.
