Term used for a gate calculation where the metal is under pressure from the gate to the  downsprue.

The calculation is carried out in such a way that the sum of the gate areas is smaller than the narrowest downsprue area. The casting system is therefore designed with a gating ratio which constantly gets smaller, e.g. downsprue:runner:gate = 3:2:1.
