Portions

of radiation which, after an interaction with material, reduce their

direction and, in general, also their energy (Compton effect, Compton

scattering).

Scattered radiation occurs in connection with all

x-ray recording processes. The amount of scattered radiation depends on

the radiation energy used (higher energy – more scattered radiation) and

the material subjected to radiation (higher atomic number – less

scattered radiation).
