Solidus temperature

The temperature at which alloys have completely solidified (see also Solidus line, Solidification).

Once the solidus temperature has been exceeded, the alloy starts melting and completely liquefies as soon as the liquidus temperature has been reached (or the liquidus line exceeded).

The liquidus and solidus temperature for pure metals (the liquidus temperature corresponds to the melting point) and eutectically composed alloys (see eutectic alloys) are identical.
