Inoculation wire

Hollow wire filled with inoculant for inoculating the casting head of the casting furnace or for wire inoculation into the ladle.

The wire is sheathed with steel. The wall thicknesses of these wires are 0.25 and 0.4mm (Fig. 1ASK Chemicals Metallurgy GmbH). The wires used have a diameter of 9 and 13mm.

The cored wires are supplied in the form of coils. In order to support the coil and ensure proper extraction of the windings, a cage is mounted over the coil and fixed to the pallet (Fig. 2, ASK Chemicals Metallurgy GmbH). This cage can be designed differently depending on the requirements profile in the foundry. It is either designed as a basket with vertical wire extraction or as a basket with horizontal wire extraction.

Instead of a basket, so-called alternating cages are available that can be reused for cost reduction. In this case, the customer purchases so-called free coils.
