Reclamation

During reclamation, the basic mold material used for production is recovered
(usually quartz sand) from the used mold material to reclaim high-quality material as a substitute to new sand.

During regeneration, the residual sand has to be cleaned from impurities like sediments, residual binder, oolitic shells, electrolytes and over and under sized grain.

During regeneration, thermal, mechanical, pneumatic and combined systems are used (see Sand reclamation).
